2005: The year of the white armband

Postby [AsC]Frags » Sat Jan 01, 2005 11:20 pm

A new year has come.... its 2005 at last. Over the last few years one thing has never changed.

World poverty.

Those of you from the UK who watched "The Vicar Of Dibley" on TV may know what I am talking about. For those who didn't or are outside the UK, the following is what is shownon the show.

After Geraldine the vicar gave them armbands to wear in support of the "Make Poverty History" campagn, the villagers were saying whats the point of waering the the white armbands to show thier support for the cause. What good will it do?

Geraldine showed them the following video:

Afterwards she turned round after watching the video and they were alll wearing armbands.

The video made me stop and think, anmd I would love to thank BBC and the Vicar of Dibley team for hightlighting it.

If you are not in UK you can help by donations to charity and by writing to leaders in your country.

Thanks for that comment and I would like to say that I saw that show too and it really shocked me.

Many of us live in a very comfortable world with everything we really need and although our PC's can connect us right round the world in so many ways, our personal hopes and dreams stay safe protected behind closed doors.

The news, I'm sure, is getting us all down so good for you Frags for putting your head above the parapet.

My wife and I decided last night to get involved even if it's only money to give. I don't care what you all think if this is gushing / sentimental and nor should you..
