My Psb unban :o

well some of you may know a few months ago i got a ban on psb for an "md5 tool" and didnt i do anything.. well last week i appealed to punksbusted and on the 18th they approved and lifted my ban. supposedly i had a "zzz_.pk3" or summit in my etmain which psb detected.. but i figure i got it on some whacky server from a download... so heres the email i got..

Report Info: Appeal
Reason: Complete. appeal heard. Ban removed.

Here is what I suggest. Turn off your downloads and try to stay off servers you don't trust. If you turn on downloads check what you are downloading and what differs on the server. Pk3's like the one you have are tightly related to cheats. Stick with known pk3's. Especially pk3's with zz in them.


I checked your record and the circumstances. This appeal will go in your favour but the info will remain in your record. Please be careful.

nonono not pb (punkbuster) "psb" (punksbusted.com) there is a difference
the first time i heard of it is when i got the ban... its like a program to run on an et, cod or w/e server sorta like gsg from what it seems like... and if it catches dodgy pk3's or stuff like that it bans you and records your guid your name and your ip..

This has always been my gripe with PsB system. Great idea but people can effectively distribute
files via the same way people distribute viruses - resulting in a PsB problem.

There are people out there who make a career of disrupting online gaming by crashing servers through exploits etc.
It wont be long before they use tools to attack the honest gamer.

I wonder how many other innocents get banned?

Someone can send you a virus or malware to disrupt your p00ta -- now someone can dump the wrong kind of .pk3 into yer system and get you banned.

The amount of abuses I can think of with this frightens me.
