Postby leprechaun » Tue Sep 18, 2007 9:40 am

I have got a new computer, it runs with Windows Vista 32.

Cod2 multiplayer wont run under it. I've tryed everything it just wont work.

Until there is a patch or something i wont be able to play.

Have u tried compatability mode???

Right Click the CoD MP icon on the desktop.

Select the Compatability tab. If this does not show go to the folder where you installed CoD 2.

Tick the "Run this program in compatability mode for:"

Select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" from the dropdown menu.

In the settings section tick:

"Disable desktop composition"
"Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"

If the game refuses to install from CD follow the above but set compatability mode for the installer .exe on the CD.

It may also be worth setting the run as administrator setting under one of the tabs on the same menu. (Assuming you are a computer administrator)

thx fragsey, but it didnt work, the singleplayer runs fine, but the MP function will not work.

No matter what i change or tick in the compatability mode, it will not start, I get a error message and it jumps back to windows.

Now im thinkin about revove Vista and reinstall Win xp sp2. All of this cos i bought a super computer with Vista pre-installed. Other games also have probs cooping with Vista, 'Bioshock' and 'Oblivion' is very unstable and during gameplay it can jump back to windows at any time.

Ive done the most for it to work, upgradig drivers etc. but the games dont like Vista.

I there matey....

Have you maybe concidered DUAL booting your system...?

That way you could have the best of both worlds.

Create a partition and install Xp on it, Then you can install all your games knowing they will work perfectly, But keep Vista.

Just a thought

Remember to do that you have to install XP first (preferably on a seperate Partition) and then Vista reinstall afterwords - although when you see how quick XP runs on the new system you might not bother with Vista - or at least wait for the next major service pack release before bothering.

I will install Win xp. I have had nothing but trouble with Vista. The prob is that i dont have a win-xp cd atm. But I will get one.

I just hope that everyhing will work out. It seems that my luck with computers is not that good. My dvd-reader just broke down too.

And I just wanna play cod, is that to much to ask for??.. :x ,

I know that feeling...in one year my dvd writer bust...then about 7 months later my psu blew my mainboard and cpu. (duel core 64 4400.) then my ex gf spilt coffee
on my keyboard. :-(

good news is out of that you can buy new stuff. :-)

Easy way to dual boot Vista /XP (And also Linux and MacOSX) is thru this handy little tool

http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1

EasyBCD allows you to create custom boot menus and sets up the boot menus itself. I find it works best with a 2nd HDD (remember to install as a different drive letter as the other operating system) but it also works with partitions.

I use it a lot :)

I have now managed to install Win2000 lol.

I have had big problems with the RAID configurations. Vista messed up my comp pretty bad. It doesn´t seem to want to be erased, like its alive and are fighting for its life. But i finally killed it, and in the ruins of the brutal fight im building a new town called WinXp.
In this new town I´ll build COD2 again.

Cheers for new beginnings.
