Demand a refund for the time the server's been down. Have a look tru their terms to see if you can find any info on this, but imo if it's them that caused the problem (and not an outside source, ie power cut), surely you should be eligible for some kind of a refund?

Good luck with this and keep us updated

Feckers, did you send that email this morning and you got this reply from them? Shouldn't they have engineers onsite every day...

The above mail was sent 20 August 2007 10:02 (today) so when it says tomorrow i take it they mean Tuesday :(

I did send another mail today asking for a credit for the down time :)

That's what I was implying. I find it very silly for them to reply this morning telling them they will have an engineer on-site tomorrow to have a look. Aren't these people supposedly running a lot of servers, hence shouldn't they have a couple engineers on-site all day around, if not 24/7
Getting some kind of a refund would be the least thing they could do, they don't even apologise for the inconvenience :/

Notice the servers still down . . . good luck in getting support . . . remember these are the same crew that gave us 6 months of free hosting before disconnecting [FuN].

So I wouldn't hold my breath . . . lets hope theyre not planning a 6 month outage as revenge :)

I would start with . . . .

To whom it may concern :

We have emailed you on several occasions over the last week without satisfactory responce or resolution. (list dates and include ALL copies off correspondance).

1) Can you tell us why the server services we are currently paying for are offline.

2) Can you give us a timescale for re-instating these services (if it is not possible to reinstate services can you tell us ASAP so that we amy make alternative Server Hosting arrangements).

We are a community group who have had a large change in membership and type of games we play over the last year. Having our servers offline without admin being able to respond to members and the public beyond saying 'we have sent an email to 4u-server support' is becoming unacceptable.

We understand that there may be technical issues that may cause server outage issues but are becoming concerned by your lack of contact. Can you please respond ASAP before we have to consider alternative hosting. In responding can you please provide a direct telephone contact so that we may quickly resolve these issues.

We note that from forum trawls that your reputation in the gaming world is already being commented on in various groups and that the reputation of 4u-Servers is being questioned - we do not wish to add to this . . .

Please respond promptly.

4u Dead

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Face it,

- They haven't answered any emails for over 20 days.
- Servers that have gone down have not been rebooted or powered back up.
- Moderators are closing or deleting any threads that complain about the above.

If the webservers go down you will lose the forums as no employee at 4U seems to be alive anymore.

My advice to anyone who reads this thread before it gets deleted is this....

If your emails are being ignored about server reboots, if your payment has been taken yet no server provided you can do the following.

Contact your credit card company
File with the small claims court
Contact trading standards

I'm sure some online news reporting websites such as The Register would be interested to know as well, specially how the truth is being covered up by moderators with their delete buttons.

I wouldnt worry about the forums being closed because from what I have seen, there hasn't been anyone around for the last month to actually close them. Besides, the only people who seem to be using them lately are by people who want to tell us that they are getting no service or support for the product they PAID for.

----- the reply post

FYI, nothing has been deleted, just a lot of posts have been moderated simply because this is not a support forum.

If you think 4u is dead, that's your call, but be sensible about it just for a min....

IF 4u was 'dead' and no staff were working, ALL the servers would be down because data centre's arn't cheap and the bill is monthly.

Obviously, this thread is now locked.

Please dont go starting more up they will just be moderated away from public viewing.

As for thr register......... I'm sure they print information given by disgruntled customers without any evidence of proof

Important Bit
No staff at 4u have been able to make comment.
This hasn't been by choice, this is simply because there are some major changes going on in the background which are eating into resources right now.
All I can say (again) is please be patient, 4u isn't going anywhere.
ALL downtime will be compensated and everything will be back to 100% as soon as possible.

If you want to take things to small claims, please feel free to do so, I just want you to know you'd b better off holding out just a little longer.

As stated MANY MANY times, this is not a support forum. Nor is it a contact point for 4u.

They said that last week too, didn't they... No-one went to have a look and/or they never bothered to email you back.
I don't care what nonsense they've got going on in the background and if they claim all will be well soon and fully compensated, the simple fact is that you've been paying for a service that's not been provided in the last week and you're not getting any reason as to why nor does it seem like getting sorted, even tho they promise to look at it...

My advice, try and cancel the service, claim your money back and go with a server provider other than 4u, as who knows how often things like these will happen...

Unfortunately companies still don't realize a big part in customer satisfaction doesn't so much in providing a good service 24/7, but staying in contact with your customers. Everyone understands problems can arise, but most of the irritation comes from lack of communication. Ie, if you're stuck at the railway station cos you're train is 30mins delayed, but they explain why, apologise and keep you informed, you're a lot less annoyed than you'd be when you weren't getting any info at all.

4u seemed to be a great company the last couple of years.... sadly they seem to have got greedy and decided to make money over service., repeated story over many in the internet services industry, once great providers a shadow of thier former self.

I have now removed the 4U banner as EJN Media will no longer support such a company.

^^ i would go with Dutchman on this . . . if they said the accountant was caught shagging the bosses wife and got sacked, then three of our techies assaulted him in the street when they realised he left before processing their wages - and are currently awaiting bail on GBH charges and the accountant had also cancelled payments to the datacentre suppliers - we'd all laugh and understand why there weren't any reboots going on atm - and MORE IMPORTANTLY the lack of communication . . .

We need a satisfactory response from 4u (even if they DO get the servers back online on monday)

TBH i cant see this being fix on monday, cant see them paying an engineer triple time on a bank holiday.

Yeh they were ment to be sending in an engineer b4, must have forgot, i can understand this after all i only sent them 15 emails ;)

As for going else where im afraid this is not an option as funding is not there atm, i looked at other game server companys and 4u were and still are the cheapest. If we were to stop using 4u then i fear we would not be able to get another server with the donations and what we (Mrs and myself) add (about 90% of server costs). If we could get regular members to contribute £5-£10 a month then maybee we could aford to go else where :D

I will be emailing sales about compensation for down time but luckly after a warning from Prof we were only renewing the server every 3 months (due to end 27 October) not paying a years upfront.

I miss playing with you guys so i hope this gets sorted soon.

Anyway i got another 2 pc to sort out so ill catch you all laters

try www.snakeservers.net they have cheap servers even they are not located in UK but NL. Most UK server providers are having high price compared to beneluxian and german server hosters for example.

LOL- another one

Five days before our server after some changes on default profil jump in to error state. Its a bug when you use for changes PC which have installed NET.Framework 2.0 . All I nedd is remove default profil and upload new. I wrote standard email with server IP and other thinks but no answere 3 days. I tried send email to salles dep. but no answere too. What happend in 4U comp. ? When their support is not working . I am very up-set from it. I am clan leader of clan which is on 2th place in Europe Clanbase conquest league and cant do anythink to make our server working. Without this server we cant play clanwars. Our FTP connection to server files is not working too. No phones no ICQ no other contacts to support !!!!!!!!! What can I do to make our working ? Travel to England and make repair on server-housing by my own ? Why I am paying for services which isnt working !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st answer

Support is a bit slow at the moment, there are people at 4u working, just be patient. I have had some recent contact from the sales team, the tech side though is proving to be very slow.

My advice is be patient.

2nd one
